I was a massage therapist well before this surgery came to be, one of many surgeries I should say. But it forever changed the way I work as a massage therapist.

I used to think that only people who had loved ones die, experienced grief. Boy did I get that wrong.

I was grieving and I didn't even know it.

What I did know was that I often replied to people in conversations 'I'm not being my best self at the moment'. I had brain fog. I wasn't sleeping. I was stressed. I was overwhelmed by not knowing what was going on. My skin was bad. I was emotional, I was a mess. And I just thought I was going through a hard time.

In actual fact, my body was holding all my bags for me. A bag for sadness. A bag for worry. A bag for fear. A bag for guilt. And it was tired.

I work with women who are emotionally carrying it all. Even if you don't realise it. It might not be your emotions making you book the session, but your sore body definitely will.

There’s a little social butterfly in all of us.

Truth is, humans are social. We seek connection and community. It might be big, elaborate social gatherings or it might be as simple as hanging with your nearest and dearest doing nothing special.

There is no right or wrong.

What I often encounter as an energy healing massage therapist that lack of social interaction can dim your ‘energetic’ light bulb.

This means you just don’t feel your best, your fullest, your SELF.

Your legs tell me, your mid-upper back tells me.

Here’s a few scenarios:

- You might be home with a new baby, being very grateful but also being sad. You don’t see the girls at work anymore. Dinner out on a Friday with friends isn’t a thing anymore and well, life looks different.

- Your friend group might have changed.

- You might have moved interstate and you feel completely alone. Friendless. Disconnected.

Sometimes we just don’t realise how much we miss these connections. We find lots of other reasons why we feel flat and uninspired but not often contributing it to that lack of connection.

My advice is:
Book the dinner.
Accept the invitation.
Start the fitness class.
Find the connection that suits you.

It might be less frequent, it might look different, but make it a priority.

New mums, this is a special note to you.
It’s ok to miss the life you had not that long ago. The one that filled your social bucket. It doesn’t mean you’re ungrateful for the new life you have.

Find your new way of connecting with kids in tow, and continue to organise the friend get togethers. They may be less frequent but they will fill your cup completely. And your light bulb will reignite!

2016 - What a year!

Have you seen a few throwbacks to 2016 in your socials lately?
It’s a rather iconic year for me - the year I opened Mama & Bump.

It was a year of taking a chance, moving into a space and learning all about running a pregnancy massage business!

I was all in on ‘black & white’ branding, even matching my shoes to the decor! I don’t know how long that lasted but the shoes got ditched pretty soon after I got settled in.

My kids were little. My youngest was starting his first year at school.

I stocked pretty necklaces and Knick knacks. I looked really young 😂

And ten years later I’m about to do it again. Set up in a new space!

For 10 years I’ve officially had my husband put to work, painting walls, hanging things on walls and painting walls again. For free 🤣

It’s been the best 10 years.

I have now released my online booking schedule, and you will see that I am taking a couple of weeks off (not quite the whole month as I had suggested I would take) and I will be recommencing massage treatments mid-February from my new space.

The new location is 103 Halifax Street, Adelaide

I will be sharing a space within Body Institute, an established wellness clinic offering naturopathy and nutritionist expertise by two ladies Karina and Kylie.

Essentially, we are three women on a mission!
To help you feel your best self again!

The hours I am offering are not as they used to be, so please be aware of the new schedule.

Alternate Mondays 9.30am-2.30pm
Every Friday 9.30am - 5pm
Alternate Saturdays 9.30am - 4pm

There is great street parking at this location and two parking spaces directly in front of the clinic (yes you can park there).

So, if you're the kind of woman who is brilliant, high functioning and likes to get stuff done, but you're tired, exhausted and just plain sick of yourself, I can't wait to help you switch off enough so that you can actually hear yourself again!
